I don’t think that’s a contradiction for him, actually. Since at least the time he was working with Faldo, he was saying the first move away from the ball was sweeping and one-piece, but as soon as the club and arms rotated around on plane (maybe a third of the way into the backswing), the idea was to rotate the forearms and set the wrists, even backsetting the right wrist slightly, between that point and what he used to call “L4,” I believe–club about vertical, arms about horizontal.
Funny how back then Ledbetter talked about sweeping it away, yet today he’s all about getting those wrists set early, shows how the golf swing has changed.

sweeping the club away still works nicely though. Price hits the ball so perfect the grass puffs up, he hardle takes a divot
